There seems to be no doubt that I do better at the end of the week than I do at the beginning. Today, I fine-tuned several of my PPC campaigns and launched a few new ones as well.
It seems to have paid off as I had a pretty decent day. I would venture to say it’s the best day I’ve had since last week.
Some of you have been asking what it is that I’m doing…exactly. Well, you’re right, I’m not going to tell you…exactly. Not because I’m being a jerk but simply because I’m not sure that this whole “mission” that I’m on is going to work out so I don’t want you to think I’m some kind of guru. I really just created this site for the excitement of seeing if Joe Avergage Dad can buckle down and escape the rat race, after 9 months of trying.
I will tell you this…most of what I’m going involves Pay Per Click to CPA marketing. The niche I’m in is pretty untouched, I’m guessing…mostly because most people probably just don’t think about it. There’s a really nice offer out there though, that can be customized on a super-local level (thank you, olden).
I’m really amazed at how tiny fluctuations in bids and keyword selection can have a huge effect on ROI. Also, for those who tell you to turn off the Content Network…don’t listen to them.
I might finally be getting the hang of this, however. Time will tell.

Hey there Chris
First of all, CONGRATS! You’re doing exactly what I want to do. I’m in the planning stages of my project right now so that I can have a gameplan to follow. I’m a 21 year old college student, have run a number of online/offline businesses and have quite a bit of savings lined up to invest in this project. I’m pretty excited.
In regards to your PPC comment about not turning the content network off, I agree with you. However, I assume you have a *separate* campaign setup for the content network right? You should be having separate ad copy and landing pages for the content network, since you’re showing them to a different type of target customer: people that search for you and see your PPC ads are at a different stage of “I want to find this product/service” then the people that end up seeing your ad on a content network related site.
Just a thought = )
stay motivated and keep pushing hard. awesome stuff

Hey, jtuckersd. You are absolutely right. Always keep Content and Search separate or your CTR will get crushed. Thanks.
